Fondaco dei Turchi is the oldest building in Venice. It dates back to 1225. Originally a palace, this impressive building on the Grand Canal later went on to be nicknamed ‘the Turks’ Inn’ because it was taken over by the Ottoman Turkish population in the 17^th century and used as a huge indoor ghetto until 1838.

• Grand Canal – this is the main canal in the city and significantly larger than the other 176 in Venice. Take a gondola tour to see the intricacies of the canal system and how it works within the city.

• Mark's Square – this is the historic centre of Venice and from here you can see grand marble buildings and detailed architecture.
